The Art of Finding Your Bangle Size

Indian bangle size guide chart showing sizes 2.2 to 2.10

A bangle is not just an accessory. In fact, it is a quiet statement – the soft clink as you move, the warm gleam catching the light. Furthermore, this Indian bangle size guide is here to ensure that every piece feels as beautiful as it looks.

If you’ve ever wondered what those numbers – 2.2, 2.4, 2.6 – actually mean, or felt unsure about sizing when shopping online, this guide is for you. Simple, straightforward, and everything you need to find your perfect fit.

Understanding Your Indian Bangle Size Guide Numbers

Indian bangles are sized by diameter – the measurement across the inside of the bangle. This is different from how most Western jewellery is sized. Additionally,  it is what those numbers actually represent:

2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 2.10

Furthermore, the first number stays consistent across standard sizing. The second number refers to a fraction of inches – so 2.6 means 2 and 6/8 inches across the inside of the bangle.

The larger the second number, the wider the bangle – and the more comfortably it fits a larger hand.

Why Your Hand – Not Your Wrist – Is the Key Measurement

This is where most people pause – and it makes complete sense.

Because bangles are rigid, they must therefore slide over your hand before resting on your wrist. Consequently, your wrist measurement alone won’t tell you what you need to know. Indeed, what truly matters is the widest part of your hand – measured with your fingers gently pressed together, the way your hand naturally moves when putting on a bangle.

Getting this right means:

    • ✨ Your bangles slip on with ease

    • ✨ They sit beautifully – not too tight, not sliding off

    • ✨ Stacking feels effortless and intentional

    • ✨ You wear them all day, without a second thought

What You Will Need

Just one of the following:

    • 📏 A soft measuring tape (most accurate)

    • 🗒️ A strip of paper and a ruler

    • 🧵 A length of string and a ruler

How to Find Your Size – Step by Step

Step 1 – Position Your Hand

First, hold your hand out, palm facing upward.

Then bring your four fingers gently together and tuck your thumb softly into your palm. This is therefore the natural shape your hand makes when sliding on a bangle – and it gives you the most accurate measurement.

Think of it as a quiet, gentle gesture – fingers together, thumb tucked in.

Step 2 – Measure the Widest Point

Next, wrap your measuring tape around the widest part of your hand – just below your knuckles where your hand is at its broadest.

However, if you are using paper or string instead, simply wrap it around the widest part of your hand and mark
where it meets. Lay flat against a ruler and note the measurement in centimetres

Step 3 – Find Your Diameter

Once you have your hand circumference in centimetres, you can therefore use this simple calculation to find your perfect fit.

Hand Circumference (cm) ÷ 3.14 = Bangle Diameter (cm)

For example:
If your hand measures 18 cm:
18 ÷ 3.14 = 5.7 cm → Size 2.6

Step 4 – Match To Your Indian Bangle Size Guide

Indian Bangle Size Bangle Diameter Hand Circumference
2.2 5.7 cm Up to 16.5 cm
2.4 6.4 cm 16.5 – 17.5 cm
2.6 6.9 cm 17.5 – 18.5 cm
2.8 7.6 cm 18.5 – 19.5 cm
2.10 8.3 cm 19.5 cm and above

A Few Things Worth Knowing

If You Fall Between Two Sizes

Always move to the larger size. This is because a bangle should slip on with grace – never by force. Furthermore,
sizing up will also make stacking multiple bangles much more comfortable.

If Your Knuckles Are Wider Than Your Palm

Measure at your knuckles with fingers together – this is the point every bangle must pass over, regardless of how slender your wrist may be.

If You Love to Stack

Consider sizing up slightly. Multiple bangles worn together should feel effortless and move freely – that gentle sound they make as you go about your day is part of the joy.

Your Preference Matters

    • A closer, more fitted feel – choose your exact size

    • A relaxed, free-moving feel – size up and let them move with you ✨
